House of Dirt Dallas Texas Wedding Photography :: Ellen + Brandon
First off, let me say that if Anthropologie had a wedding venue it would be House of Dirt… and that’s in all ways, a good thing. House of Dirt is in the Bishop Arts District which is one of my favorite areas in Dallas. If you ever find yourself around this area and love, real, authentic Mexican tacos I recommend this place: Taqueria El Si Hay. There are loads of other great places as well, but this is one of my favorite roll-up, grab something kind of place. And it’s delicious.
Ok, enough about food recommendations and back to the wedding. A few other things: I absolutely…love…love that Ellen and Brandon chose to only have live music throughout their wedding celebration. I am partly biased because the ceremony musicians were my boyfriends group, Trio Kavanah, which was a fun experience working along side them. I also wore some new shoes and ended up getting some bad blisters right away (terrible idea if they aren’t broken in). I asked Danny to bring some bandaids before he got to the ceremony… he forgot, which was slightly irritating.
Anyway! The day got started at an Airbnb Ellen rented for the girls to get ready in and then we made our way to the church. I know there is this stereotype that if things run behind at a wedding it’s normally the bride that is delaying things because of hair and makeup… but it was actually the guys during this wedding. The guys actually ACCIDENTALLY ordered self-tie bow ties and no one knew how to actually tie them, which led to a massive delay. Funny things happen at weddings.
When Ellen and Brandon told me what they were planning for their day they said they wanted a romantic and intimate wedding. I’d say they completely nailed that on the head- with the intimate and cozy vibe of House of Dirt to the live music… and the jazz musicians at the reception were amazing as well, to their fantastic retro getaway car.
Here are some of the highlights of their wedding day. We actually scheduled their formals session on other date, so check back for those photos.
